AS WE BEFRIEND and embrace
all parts of ourselves through forgiveness, understanding and love,
we let our Buddha nature shine through and awaken that quality in others.
This retreat will include both mindfulness and guided loving kindness
practice. It
will incorporate silent sitting and walking meditation, interviews with
teachers, question and answer periods, and evening dharma talks.
Eric Kolvig, Ph.D., has
been teaching Vipassana since 1985 and leads meditation retreats all
over the U.S. He studied and practiced for years with prominent teachers
at the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA, and also trained in
the zen tradition. Eric is particularly interested in supporting "grassroots
dharma," self-organized local communities like the Albuquerque Vipassana
Sangha where he serves as resident teacher.
Lila Kate Wheeler
has been teaching meditation since the mid 1980s. A prizewinning writer
of fiction and journalism, Lila most recently published Nixon Under
the Bodhi Tree and Other Works of Buddhist Fiction, a 2004 Wisdom
Publications anthology of Buddhist writers' stories.

Fee Schedule and Room Types
Rooms will be assigned in the
order deposits are received. If your room choice is unavailable, you
will be notified and offered another option.
Retreat fee covers room and vegetarian meals:
Commuter registrations can
be guaranteed only after a minimum number of residential registrations
are confirmed. Commuting may detract from the retreat experience, so
please choose to make this a residential retreat unless you would not
otherwise be able to participate.
The teachers request that
participants commit to arriving at the beginning of the retreat and
staying until the end. A few partial retreatants may be admitted,
subject to approval by the teachers. If you would like to attend but
are unable to sit the full retreat, please inquire and explain the circumstances.
Important
Dana Note: In
keeping with our tradition that dharma teachings are priceless and freely
given, compensation for the teachers is
not included in the retreat fees.
The teachers offer their wisdom and guidance without charge. At the
end of the retreat, participants have the opportunity to return this
generosity by making a dana donation to support our teachers
in their ongoing work of serving the dharma. When planning for the retreat
and considering your gift, please reflect on the value of the teachings
in your life and remember that our teachers rely in large part on
dana for their livelihoods.
Scholarships
available: It is the
intention of the Albuquerque Vipassana Sangha that no one refrain from
taking part in any retreat we sponsor due to financial considerations.
We offer scholarships up to 2/3 of the retreat fee. All scholarship
inquiries and assistance will be kept confidential. To request
scholarship information, contact registrar Tiska Blankenship at 505/256-3785,
or Tiskaunm.edu. Scholarship applications must
be received by Sept. 8, 2007. Requests made after that deadline
will be considered based on available funds.
